Black Urban No.05 – The Subway of Babel places the human figure within the dense and mechanical environment of an underground train carriage. The setting introduces a layered social space where movement, anonymity, and urban rhythm intersect.
The title references the myth of Babel—a place where many voices, languages, and identities converge within a single environment. In the context of the subway, this metaphor reflects the modern city itself: a constantly shifting network of people sharing space while remaining strangers to one another.
At the center of the composition stands a solitary figure moving forward through the carriage. The passengers seated in the background form a quiet audience, their presence reinforcing the tension between individuality and collective space. The figure becomes both part of the environment and a visual disruption within it.
The black-and-white palette intensifies the atmosphere of the scene. Metallic surfaces, overhead lighting, and the linear perspective of the train interior create a strong architectural structure that frames the central subject. The composition draws the viewer’s eye along the corridor of the carriage toward the figure moving through it.
Produced as a limited edition fine art print, the artwork is printed using archival pigment printing on museum-quality paper. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and prepared for long-term preservation.
